Top Hat Shim or Lash Cap

 

This shim is used when valve clearance is too large to take up with the regular shims, which usually occurs when using high-performance camshafts with smaller than-stock base circles.  It rests between the top of the valve and the bucket.

 

Thickness is 1.65mm (.065").
