What exhaust parts best fit the 1968-1985 FIAT Spider?





1968-1985 Fiat 124 Spider, Spider 2000, Pininfarina exhaust guide
(for North American specifications cars)

1968-1974 124 Spider

These cars all have a two outlet exhaust manifolds connected to a 2-into-1 downpipe.These are good for a stock engine or mild performance engines.For medium to hot performance engines our Abarth type header works very well.The pipe size of the middle and rear mufflers stayed the same even as engine size grew.We recommend upgrading to our larger diameter pieces which were stock on the European market 1800 Spider.

1975-1978 49-State models (without catalytic converter)

These Spiders came with a restrictive single outlet exhaust manifold.Even a stock engine will see gains from converting to the earlier type two outlet exhaust manifold with matching downpipe (EX5-474), or an exhaust header. We recommend our larger diameter center and rear mufflers.The stock downpipe is not available new.

1975-1978 California models with catalytic converter

These Spiders have a catalytic converter under the passenger seat.The stock downpipe is available new (EX5-478), but no performance options are available for this system as it runs much further to the right (under the passenger seat) than the non-converter system. If it is suspected that the converter is plugged, a test pipe is available to replace it for testing purposes.Some customers in non-emission controlled areas have swapped the entire system from a non-California Spider.

1979-1980 Carbureted Spiders

All Spider after 1979 had a catalytic converter. The 1979 49-state models have a two outlet exhaust manifold which are fine for stock engines.The 1979 California models and all 1980 carbureted models had a single outlet exhaust manifold which is quite restrictive.Our exhaust header will restore performance lost from a restrictive stock manifold.If it is suspected that the converter is plugged, a test pipe is available to replace it for testing purposes.

1980-1985 Fuel injected Spiders

All fuel injected Spider came with a two-outlet exhaust manifold.Our Abarth-style exhaust header is recommended for all cars with increased performance.If it is suspected that the converter is plugged, a test pipe is available to replace it for testing purposes.
